Celebrating WINE

Our Head of Wine, Freddie Taylor, will guide you through a decadent tasting of premium wines from our expertly curated wine list. One hour, four wines, and as much wine-speak as is called for!

Freddie's approach is enjoyment driven, with a smattering of interesting facts thrown in to deepen understanding along the way. Feel free to pick his brains or simply relax in the company of some of the world’s finest wines.

Prices start as below but please enquire for a bespoke package.

£225 for up to 12 people (Approximately £19 per person, at full capacity)

£375 for up to 24 people (Approximately £16 person, at full capacity)

Our beautiful riverside terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy lunch or dinner with a glass of everyone's favourite port.

Booking is advised for lunch or dinner, while table for drinks are available on a first come first served basis.

Every month we celebrate wine with a themed tasting event, and occasional suppers with hand-picked wine pairings. 

The Wine and Spirits Education Trust provides globally recognised qualifications in wines and spirits. Their courses provide excellent learning opportunities for wine lovers, trade professionals and enthusiastic hobbyists alike.

The Mitre's sister hotel The Retreat is an approved provider of WSET qualifications and is delighted to now be able to offer courses at The Mitre under the guidance of our WSET tuotor Polly Gibson.

Attending a WSET-approved programme at The Mitre will set you up with the knowledge to choose and appreciate wine with confidence.  Our class sizes are a kept to a maximum of 16.
